Jay Chang Manila Mall Tour Recap: Press Con, Setlist & His Viral Marilag Cover

I still can’t believe I get to write this sentence: Jay Chang finally came to Manila.

You know that feeling of finally seeing your bias for the first time in real life? How magical and surreal it is. And that’s exactly how it felt for Philippine SUNLIGHTs seeing Jay Chang.

From June 26 to 28, 2026, Jay held his very first Philippine mall tour with three stops across Robinsons Galleria, SM City Manila, and Ayala Malls The 30th.

There was also a press conference the day before at SMDC Light Mall.

I was lucky enough to cover the mall tour and even sit in on the press con where Jay opened up more than I expected.

Here’s everything that happened so you can relive the moment (if you were there!).

If you missed it, consider this your front-row seat to everything that happened: the songs, the surprises, and the moment that’s going viral on TikTok

We hope next time, you’ll be able to be there to witness Jay Chang’s talent in real life.

Jay Chang’s Press Conference: What He Shared About Manila & Him Being Proud to be Filipino

While media and fans sat waiting at the SMDC Light Mall, little did they know that Jay would be making an iconic entrance for his press conference.

Heads turned backward, away from the stage, as we spotted Jay Chang at the second floor.

When he was officially introduced, he walked down the escalator, waving and smiling at fans.

But what the crowd didn’t expect was that he would walk in the aisle to make his way to the stage. It gave everyone a close encounter with him even before the main part of the program started.

“Hello everybody. My name is Jay Chang. It’s nice to meet you.” He greeted the media and fans. “Kamusta po. Ako si Jay Chang.” And proceeded to do a short photo time.

He mentioned how he’s been wanting to come to the Philippines for a very long time (it was his goal since he was a kid to come here) so he was happy to finally be in Manila.

The highlights of the press con were the following:

  • Him being proud of debuting cause it allowed him to have a platform to express himself
  • Dedicating “Four Seasons” to PH SUNLIGHTs because it’s personal and expresses gratitude and he even sang a bit of the song
  • Sharing that he’s proud to be Filipino
  • He wants to collaborate with Dionela and Zac Tabudlo
  • His favorite Filipino song is Marilag by Dionela
  • Dancing to Oohh Lala Baby!
  • His favorite Filipino food is sinigang
  • The genre that describes him the best is RnB & Soul
  • It’s very memorable for him to hear that his music has helped SUNLIGHTs become a better version of themselves and come out of a dark place
  • His next album will have more of an RnB vibe

Jay Chang First Philippine Mall Tour

Jay Chang’s mall tour showcased his amazing vocals and talent, his playful energy and humour, and his genuine interactions with his fans.

The mall shows opened with a short talk session, followed by Jay Chang singing a couple of songs before the hi bye session (which became a hi touch at one point) and the fan sign.

The Setlist

Two songs were staples in each mall stop notably, “Higher” and a cover of Dionela’s “Marilag” which was a popular one!

One thing nice about the set list was that there was at least one song that was different in every stop.

He sang “Four Seasons” in Robinsons Galleria, “Up to You” in SM City Manila; and “Four Seasons” and “Runaway” at his last stop at Ayala Malls The 30th.

Aside from this, he obliged by singing a snippet of fan-requested songs like “Over Me” in Robinsons Galleria and “I’ll Be There” in Ayala Malls The 30th.

My Honest Thoughts Seeing Him for the First Time

Aside from Jay Chang’s charm and talent, what impressed me the most was how genuine and grateful he is. I noticed that he would take the time to look at every one in the crowd whether when talking or performing his songs.

He was also very down-to-earth and approachable whenever fans requested he sing a snippet of one of his songs, he immediately obliged.

And he was so funny and witty. Even if he didn’t grow up in the Philippines, you could still feel his Filipino roots with his humour. And I loved how he covered Dionela’s “Marilag” since it was his favorite Filipino song.

I really hope he comes back as soon as he can, whether with his group One Pact or to promote his next music release.

What did you think of the Jay Chang mall tour? Were you able to attend or if not, what highlights from social media were your favorite?

This event is organized by Starlike Music, supported by Seoul Vibes Manila and TimelessNotes LIVE.
